Vigil recalls 6 killed by Indianapolis house fire
INDIANAPOLIS - Several dozen people gathered during a vigil outside the Indianapolis home where six family members were killed by a weekend fire, with many hugging and consoling relatives of the victims.
Authorities say the fire killed 47-year-old Lionel Guerra, 33-year-old Brandy Mae Guerra and their four children, ages 6 to 14.
Mayor Greg Ballard attended Wednesday evening's vigil that was led by pastors from the Latino community.
Sandra Lopez is Lionel Guerra's sister. She tells WRTV she's comforted by knowing other lives were saved by organ donations from her brother's family.
Those at the vigil included Janie Hall, who had four children in a house fire 18 years ago. Hall tells WISH-TV that such pain never goes away but wants to help to avoid more such tragedies.
