600 art pieces on display

The Wauconda Area Library is showcasing more than 600 pieces of artwork created by students in Wauconda Community Unit School District 118.

The show is titled Studio 118. An opening gala was held Thursday evening for the artists and their families. The Matthews Middle School jazz band performed, art stations were set up and the Junior National Honor Society served refreshments.

A variety of media was used, including watercolors, pencil, chalk, paint, paper crafts and ceramics. The artwork will be on display at the library through March 14.

Individual schools have award ceremonies planned next week.
