Rte 59 and Liberty St. intersection reopens after gas leak

The intersection of Route 59 and Liberty Street in Aurora reopened about 2:30 p.m. Friday.

A natural gas leak caused officials to close the intersection for about four hours as crews investigated and repaired the problem.

Aurora spokesman Dan Ferrelli said the leak was caused by a construction crew working near the intersection around 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Nicor officials were not immediately available to comment on the leak.
