C.A.T.I.F. continues to 'Pay it Forward' for fifth year

January 21, 2014 (VPPR) – Palatine, IL. Pay it Forward, a fundraiser sponsored by

Palatine-based non-profit C.A.T.I.F. [Celebrating All That Is Feminine], is now in its fifth year.

Funds raised at this exciting event will benefit women veterans and at-risk girls.

The Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, where veterans – both female and male – receive acute care and outpatient clinical services, and Kappa Kappa Gamma Girls' Academy will be the direct beneficiaries of monies raised at the event - to be held at Durty Nellie's in downtown Palatine.

“Kappa Kappa Gamma is an amazing group of women who spend countless hours developing programs and mentoring at-risk teen teenagers; they hold a weekend sit-in with the girls and help them learn how to deal with bullying, peer pressure and other life pressures in a new and positive way,” said Kara Cermak, C.A.T.I.F. president.

“One of our founding member's husband is a veteran-he reached out after learning of the great need women veterans specifically have,” Cermak said. “For example, their starter toiletry kits at the center cost almost three times as much as those for men, because women's products are more expensive.”
