Probation for man charged in Elk Grove street racing death

A Melrose Park man pleaded guilty to aggravated street racing that led to a fatal 2012 accident in Elk Grove Village, court records show.

In exchange for Robert T. Wayzer’s guilty plea to the class four felony, the 27-year-old was sentenced to 24 months probation and ordered to pay $689 in fines, court records show.

The accident, which occurred shortly after midnight on Sept. 13, 2012 in the 1800 block of Estes Avenue, claimed the life of 24-year-old Ramon Echevarria, of Schaumburg, police said.

Echevarria was killed when the 1998 Chevrolet Corvette he was driving west on Estes Avenue from Nicholas Boulevard struck a building, police said.
