Rolling Meadows man gets 10 years for cocaine sale

A Rolling Meadows man pleaded guilty Thursday to attempting to sell 399 grams of cocaine to an undercover Cook County Sheriff’s Police officer in 2012.
In exchange for Inez Lopez-Mendoza’s guilty plea to delivery of a controlled substance, Cook County Judge Thomas Fecarotta sentenced the 46-year-old to 10 years in prison.
On Aug. 29, 2012, Lopez-Mendoza met an undercover agent in the parking lot of a Rolling Meadows Wal-Mart to sell him a kilogram of cocaine for $31,000, said Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Mike Crowe. The officer took Lopez-Mendoza into custody at that time, Crowe said.
Lopez-Mendoza received credit for 500 days in custody. He must complete 75 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
