White Castle closes in Batavia
The White Castle glows no more as a beacon to late-night snackers on Randall Road in Batavia.
The restaurant closed last week after 12 years in business.
The drive-through order board has been removed. Signs on the doors and windows direct customers to visit two White Castles in Aurora.
City Administrator Bill McGrath said the city received no official notice of the closing. He first heard about it from a friend, and then from police and community development workers.
It is the second fast-food restaurant to close in Batavia in a year. The Burger King on Route 31 closed in July. It was sold, and is being turned into a Hardees.
A spokesman for White Castle Management Co. could not be immediately reached for comment.
White Castle is privately owned and does not franchise its stores, according to the company’s website.
