Mount Prospect Police investigator receives award of merit
After six months of investigations, Alison Teevan of the Mount Prospect Police Department arrested three subjects for felony possession of stolen property, theft and money laundering.
And on Tuesday, Dec. 10, Teevan was rewarded for her efforts with the Cook County Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Award of Merit.
This award is presented annually to police officers from across Cook County who consistently perform beyond the call of duty as evidenced by their excellent dedication, attitude, work ethic and professionalism.
Teevan is a six-year veteran of the Mount Prospect Police Department and is currently assigned to the Special Investigations Gang Intelligence Unit.
The three arrests that led her to this award were the result of a six-month fencing investigation. During this lengthy investigation, which she worked on with the Chicago Police Department, Teevan organized the sales of stolen merchandise by undercover officers and analyzed financial records belonging to the suspects.
Due to her thorough investigation, search warrants for seven locations were obtained, resulting in the recovery of over $100,000 in stolen property, the seizure of over $800,000 and the seizure of five vehicles.
In addition, Teevan was selected as Officer of the Year Runner-Up in 2009 and 2010 and has received three Officer of the Quarter Awards while with the Mount Prospect Police Department.
“I am exceptionally pleased that Investigator Teevan was honored with this prestigious award. Investigator Teevan’s professionalism and dedication to duty has made her a most valued member of the Mount Prospect Police Department,” said Mount Prospect Police Chief Michael Semkiu.
