Click It Or Ticket Campaign Successful in Helping to Keep Roads Safer

West Chicago, Illinois: December 13, 2013 - The West Chicago Police Department has reported the results of its most recent traffic safety enforcement campaign which took place from November 18 to December 1, 2013. The campaign was supported through the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and helped to remind motorists to buckle up both day and night during a Click It Or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization. West Chicago Police officers joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois in this annual effort to get more motorists to buckle up - and save more lives.

During the mobilization, the West Chicago Police Department issued:

• 30 seat belt citations

• 1 child safety seat citation

• 1 DUI arrest

• 1 suspended/revoked license

• 6 uninsured motorists

• 7 speeding citations

The annual Thanksgiving Click It Or Ticket mobilization may be over in West Chicago, but that is no excuse to stop using your seat belt according to Traffic Safety Unit Sergeant Spencer Kroning. “Our officers are out all year long. If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seat belt, day or night, you will be cited for the safety violation,” he said.
