Techny Christmas concert a holiday tradition

For decades, Chicago Master Singers’ Christmas concerts have been a holiday tradition. This year, the 130-voice chorus under the direction of Alan Heatherington will be accompanied by the Ars Viva Brass and internationally acclaimed guest organist Nathan Laube.

The Christmas concerts will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, and 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit (Divine Word) in Techny.

Beginning with the traditional processional “Once in Royal David’s City” and ending with a festive rendition of “O Come All Ye Faithful,” the program will include stirring arrangements of familiar carols. Some major works will also be part of the program, including John Rutter’s “Gloria,” Daniel Pinkham’s “Christmas Cantata” and Aaron David Miller’s “Magnificat.”

The concert venue is located at Techny Towers, 2001 Waukegan Road, just north of Willow Road, in Techny (Northbrook). Free parking is available.

Both general and preferred seating tickets are available. Advance reservations are recommended. Tickets are $48 for preferred seating, $38 for general seating and $28 for side seating. Discounts are available for seniors and students, as well as for groups of 10 or more.

For tickets, go to www.chicagomastersingers.org or call (800) 595-4849.
