Glenview Blades starts synchronized skating season strong
On Saturday, Nov. 16, the Glenview Blades, a group of synchronized skating teams based at the Glenview Ice Center, 1851 Landwehr Road, kicked off the 2013-2014 season participating in the Pleasant Prairie competition held on the shores of Lake Andrea in Prairie Springs Park in Pleasant Prairie, Wis.
The Pre-Juvenile synchronized skating team was awarded first place with their presentation of the new energized “American Women” theme. The team is coached by Tera Hoffmann and Beth Krejnik and the skaters on the team are Paige Arvanitis, Peyton Bond, Meghan Blomberg, Delaney Hackett, Catherine Hinrichs, Caroline Kozaczka. Laura Leifke, Peyton LaValley, Alex Libman, Julia Niklewicz, Delaney Rossi, Lilly Rossi, Emilia Scott, Kate Shargo, Kristin Smith Lilly Smith, Marla Tamul and Eileen Wolff.
In addition, the Beginner One synchronized skating team shook the crowd as they executed round circles and placed second. This team is coached by Maria Scianna and Rebecca Menzynski and the skaters on the team are Giuliana Aiello, Rachel Buchanan, Natalie Duncan, Munkhnaran Dechinmijiddorj, Gabriella Fuja, Alejandra Galarza, Sophia Gyuk, Alyssa Hjelmgren, Zoe Kaiser, Francesca Noordover, Karin Olson, Maggie Parsons, Aida Penaru, Maya Penaru and Chloe Schmidt.
The teams competition schedule will take them to Fond du Lac, Wis., Synchro Illinois in Homewood Flossmoor, Skokie in January, 2014, The Freeze Competition at the Glenview Ice Center in February, Highland Park and Hoffman Estates in March and much more. There will be an opportunity to see the Glenview Blades teams at the Holiday Exhibition from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20. This exhibition will feature soloists and class skaters from the skate school.
The Glenview Ice Center fields The Glenview Blades who are made up of girls from ages 7-17. The Glenview Ice Center has supported Synchro teams for more than 25 years. The teams have won numerous District and National medals.
