Kate Conlon Basketball Tournament this week

St. Raymond School and St. Viator High School will host the 22nd Annual Kate Conlon Basketball Tournament Thursday, Dec. 5, through Sunday, Dec. 8.

A total of 24 eighth-grade girls’ basketball teams will compete with an anticipated 700 fans attending. Games will be played at both schools, with the championship games for the three brackets being held at St. Raymond’s Parish Life Center (gym). All tournament games are open to the public.

Kate, a St. Raymond’s grad, was a talented athlete who enjoyed participating in basketball, volleyball, cheerleading and intramural sports. A group of Kate’s friends and neighbors wanted to do something to remember her love of athletics after she and two other 14-year-old Prospect High School freshman girls died in a car accident in 1991.

Again, this year St. Raymond will be partnering with St. Viator High School. The tournament will be hosting numerous schools from the Chicago area with hundreds of eighth-grade girls competing. There will be a raffle for prizes. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six tickets for $5.
