‘The law should not be above the law’

An open letter to the South Barrington Police Department: I’m just curious why one of your police cruisers would be using his or her emergency lights at the intersection of Algonquin and New Wilke Roads in Rolling Meadows between 11 a.m. and noon today.
I would think that is way out of your jurisdiction. Was the officer late to court at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse? I highly doubt he was just cruising around Rolling Meadows and just happened to see someone disobeying a traffic law. He was headed east on Algonquin taking a left on New Wilke which leads straight to the courthouse.
Emergency lights are for emergencies, not stopping traffic for tardiness. I hope this was not the case but the way things are nowadays I would not doubt that it was. I constantly see patrol cars exceeding the speed limit by 20 to 30 mph with no emergency lights.
The law should not be above the law. A speed limit is a speed limit and emergency lights are for emergencies, not tardiness.
