Schaumburg A.M. Rotary joins in school-community Partnership Breakfast

Schaumburg Elementary School District 54 Superintendent Andy DuRoss welcomed representatives from a wide variety of community & business entities at its 19th annual Partnership Breakfast celebrating collaborative partnerships on Wednesday, November 20th.

District 54 staff & School Board members in addition to representatives from all 27 of its schools were present to thank and recognize their community partners for their contributions that support the District's mission of “Ensuring Student Success”.

Schaumburg A.M. Rotary provided funding to both Winston Churchill School and Enders-Salk School to support their respective school gardening programs which are being integrated into the traditional educational curriculum of math, reading, writing and science to teach children about gardening and plants, in addition to other subjects, and to help them understand the importance of healthy eating habits, nutrition and exercise. School gardens serve as classrooms that teach children about insect life cycles; environmental science; soil and water conservation; native plants; and habitats for butterflies, birds, insects and pollinators.

In addition the club supports Churchill School's efforts to improve student literacy skills by donating books that are awarded as student door prizes at the school's annual Reading & Writing Night Celebration.
