Durbin on wrong side of health care solution
Our illustrious Sen. Dick Durbin looks like an idiot in the midst of the health care rollout fiasco. Mr. Durbin said, “There is no reason for a legislative fix” (Daily Herald, Nov. 15). He supports the premise that Congress and the administration should continue improving the implementation of the ACA while millions continue to lose their coverage.
He went on to say that we must “redouble our efforts highlighting and explaining what this historic law will mean to 40 million Americans without insurance.”
I want Mr. Durbin to justify why he feels that explaining what it means to 40 million Americans to have insurance is more important than explaining why 5 million-plus Americans who had insurance they liked are losing it? This 5 million-plus were paying for their own policies and will soon be paying for those 40 million who didn’t have it.
I surely hope that those who vote in the next election will remember that Mr. Durbin supports those who don’t have insurance more than those who did and were paying for it. He is part of the wealth distribution initiative of the president.
