Westfield principal moving to Glen Crest
Kim Price is taking her next career step and returning to her administrative roots.
Glen Ellyn Elementary District 89 officials announced this week that Price, currently the principal at Westfield Elementary School, will replace retiring principal Todd Schrage at Glen Crest Middle School effective July 1.
Price has held the position at Westfield for four years. Before that she served for nine years as an assistant principal at Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200’s Edison Middle School and one year at Hubble Middle School.
Schrage is retiring after 30 years as an administrator and teacher in District 89.
“It just seemed like a good time and a good fit,” Price said. “It’s a hard decision because I love Westfield, but it seemed like a nice next step.”
Price, 47 and the mother of three children, began her career teaching second and sixth grade in Carol Stream where she spent seven years.
During her time at Westfield, district officials said Price has been a “strong leader” in improving academic performance. In 2012 Westfield was one of only 81 schools in the state to be recognized for its growth in both reading and math.
“My most immediate goal is to get in there and know the staff, to learn from them and work with them to identify the areas we need for improvement,” Price said. “I think the school is very child-centered and meets needs of all the kids. I hope to build on that.”
