Barrington High School’s staging of ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ worth the ride

Tennessee Williams’ famous play “A Streetcar Named Desire” opens 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at Barrington High School’s Richard C. Johnson Auditorium, 616 W. Main St., in Barrington.

The show will also be performed 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, and 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $8 for adults and $6 for students. Seniors go free.

The Barrington High School Theatre Program has been providing theatrical entertainment to the local Barrington community since 1947, following World War II. The theater program is part of the Barrington High School Fine Arts Department.

More than 80 students have been working nonstop on this classic production, which has stood the test of time.

This production is directed by Lisa Southern and the technical director is Amy Jessup-Tilford. Some of students involved in this production, either behind the scenes or onstage, are: Amy Fish, Vanessa Woods, Meredith McDonnell, Matt Dowdy, Emily Gilbert, Alex Evans, Peter Hammel, Sean Malec, Tucker Polkinghorne, Jesse Thorna, Marina Oakley, Michelle, Radogna, Lidziya Rubanava, Claire Masterson, Ellie Bruckner, Dilip Rao, Eric Haufschild, Jordan Field, Erin Norman, Justice Good, Ali Lidbury, Catherine Leonard, Hana Nabulsi, Timothy Foszcz.

These students are just a sample of the outstanding talent at Barrington High School that is making this production happen, offering a great night out, close to home in the community of Barrington.
