Amcol International picks Castagna as COO

HOFFMAN ESTATES — Gary L. Castagna has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer of Amcol effective January 1, 2014, the company announced today.

Castagna has been with the Hoffman Estates-based company for more than 23 years, and has served as senior vice president of the company and president of the performance materials segment since May 2008. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer and treasurer of the company.

“Gary has demonstrated strong leadership skills and has delivered excellent results in his current role,” said Amcol president and CEO Ryan McKendrick, “In his new role, he will continue to lead the performance materials segment and will bring his strong team building skills, along with operational and marketing expertise, to the other Amcol segments.”

Amcol is a producer and marketer of diverse specialty materials with expertise in minerals and polymer science.
