Government, take a stand on smoking

Smoking is disgusting, and many people share this opinion. It is especially disgusting when someone is not old enough by law to buy or smoke cigarettes, but they do so anyway.

Many in the government would share my opinion, I’d wager. But what is the government doing to stop underage smoking? Nothing! We have a Surgeon General, yes. This I understand. But as wonderful and insightful as these warnings are, what are they really doing to stop teenage smokers? I ask myself this every time that I hear rumors in school that so-and-so skipped second period to go smoke in the bathroom, and so-and-so went with him, but so-and-so number two decided to smoke an electronic cigarette — and number two didn’t get in trouble, but so-and-so the first did. The government should fix this.
