Northwestern Mutual in Oak Brook to host food drive to benefit Northern Illinois Food Bank

For most of us the holidays are a time of joy, gathering with family and friends, celebrating with an abundance of food to eat. For close to 80,000 residents in DuPage County there is a daily challenge to put enough food on the table, let alone celebrate the holidays, according to Feeding America’s, Map The Meal Gap Study. To help close that gap, Northwestern Mutual’s McTigue Financial Group in Oak Brook is sponsoring a food drive for the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

While any donation is welcome the pantry has provided a list of most needed items, which include:

• Cereal (whole grain preferred)

• Canned Chicken and Tuna

• Peanut Butter

• Pasta (whole grain preferred)

• Rice

• Dried Beans

• Canned Fruits (in own juice preferred)

• Canned Vegetables

• Reduced Sodium-Soup

• Pasta Sauce

They request that donations be in plastic or cans since they cannot accept glass containers.

Cash donations are also welcome. Checks should be made payable to the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Every $1 donated is stretched to provide $8 worth of nutritious groceries to hungry neighbor thanks to the partnerships and purchasing power of the food bank.
