West Chicago Public Library District Announces Annual "Food for Fines"

The West Chicago Public Library District “Food for Fines” amnesty period begins Monday, November 1 and ends Wednesday, November 27, 2013. During this period, the Library will accept donations of non-perishable canned or boxed food in payment of overdue fines. One item will equal $1 in fines forgiven, up to a maximum of $6. While food items cannot be applied to charges for lost/damaged materials or collection agency fees, patrons without overdue fines are also encouraged to donate.

All proceeds from the program will benefit the Neighborhood Food Pantries, a Northern Illinois Food Bank collection site located at 525 North Neltnor Boulevard in West Chicago. More information may be obtained by calling the Circulation Department at 630-231-1552, x2 or online at www.westchicago.lib.il.us.
