Take trip with Prospect thespians to quirky ‘Almost, Maine’

Prospect High School’s theater department puts the audience onstage for its fall production, “Almost, Maine.”

The play, which is performed 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 24-26, in the school theater, 801 W. Kensington Road, Mount Prospect, is a new romantic comedy.

The audience will be seated on either side of the catwalk-like stage.

Due to the new seating arrangements, there will be a limited number of seats available, so reservations are highly recommended.

Director Jeremy Morton, play director says “Almost, Maine” is a tale about love.

“Through the use of reality and magic, the piece creates an enchanting story that will make you laugh, cry, and sigh,” he said.

Almost, Maine, is a town that’s so far north, it’s almost in Canada. And it almost doesn’t exist, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it’s just … Almost.

On a cold Friday night in the middle of winter, while the Northern lights hover in the sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. Love is lost, found and confounded. And life for the people of Almost, Maine, will never be the same.
