Gift to Library Increases Cultural Understanding

West Chicago, Illinois: October 22, 2013 - For the 6th year in a row West Chicago Sister Cities (WCSC) has donated DVDs, CDs and books to the West Chicago Public Library. Flim buffs will enjoy the award winning DVDs recommended by the German consulate; Cherry Blossoms and Cloud 9. Opera lovers will enjoy the latest donations, Die Fledermaus and The Barber of Seville, both of which have been featured at the Lyric Opera in Chicago. All the DVDs are in German with subtitles, which can be useful for German language learners. A 1,550 word picture dictionary along with CDs with German songs can be found in the Youth Services Department.

WCSC has a relationship with the Bavarian town of Taufkirchen vils. Next year "opinion leaders" from Taufkirchen vils will be visiting West Chicago. Further information about West Chicago Sister Cities can be obtained at www.westchicagosistercities.com. The purpose of WCSC is to further peace through education, culture and people to people exchanges. All are welcome to attend the meetings the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the east room of Pal Joey's Restaurant, located at 440 E. Roosevelt Road.
