KAI hosts Family Fun Spooktacular Happenings Oct. 26

The opening performance of the Kaneland Arts Initiative's concert series was met with enthusiasm by all of the guests of Las Vegas magicians Garry and Mihaela Carson on Oct. 11.

The event was also a fundraiser for the organization, raising approximately $1,200. The next event produced by the Kaneland Arts Initiative (formerly the Kaneland Community Fine Arts Festival) is the Halloween concert of the Fox Valley Concert Band (www.fvcb.org) at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in the auditorium at Kaneland High School, 47W326 Keslinger Road in Maple Park.

The Fox Valley Concert Band, under the direction of Dr. Colin Holman, was founded in January 1983 and originally sponsored by the St. Charles Park District.

The band has grown in number from its original 40 members to an ensemble of over 75 members, who come from more than 30 communities in the Chicago land area. The mission of the band is to provide opportunities for area musicians to grow in musical excellence and to provide area residents opportunities for exposure to the best in the concert band repertoire. Within the band are five Kaneland community members.

At the Fox Valley Concert Band Halloween Concert on Saturday, Oct. 26, patrons can expect to hear music of the season and have the opportunity to participate in a costume contest. Guests who come in costume will not be tricked; instead, costume wearers will be treated to something special. Bring the whole family for a delightful and spooktacular afternoon.

The event is approximately 90 minutes in length and appropriate for all ages.

Ticket prices are $8 for students/senior citizens, $10 for adults, and $25 for the popular Family Ticket, which admits all family members living in one household for the single price of $25. Preschoolers are free.

Tickets can be purchased from a Fox Valley Concert Band member or through the Kaneland Arts Initiative via phone (630) 365-5100, ext. 180 or email kaitickets@kaneland.org. The box office of the Kaneland Arts Initiative can only accommodate cash or checks (payable to “KHS-FAF”).
