Mundelein Park District to host fun, FREE Pumpkin Drop

Join us for this National Recreation and Park Association award-winning event where we toss, roll and compost those past-their-prime pumpkins. All ages are invited to join in the fun rolling pumpkins down the sled hill to see how fast they go. Compete in the race to “fill-the-cans-with-pumpkins” and learn how those pulverized pumpkins will have a second life as ‘garden gold' when it is used for compost. Kids pre-registered by October 25 will be entered into a drawing and 20 winners will get their pumpkin launched by “Big Red”, a catapult spanning nearly 10 feet across and designed with recycled materials by Mundelein High School students. The pumpkin that goes the greatest distance receives a special prize. Young and old will enjoy this enviro-friendly event held on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 12:30 to 1: 30 p.m. at the Keith Mione Community Park, 1401 N. Midlothian Road, Mundelein.

Pre-registration for the pumpkin launch drawing can be done by calling 847-566-0650. No registration required for all other Pumpkin Drop activities, one pumpkin per person (all insides removed), please. More information is available on the Park District's Facebook page or online at www.mundeleinparks.org.
