Northwestern Mutual in Northbrook to Run and Raise Funds for Childhood Cancer Family Support

For many children who have been diagnosed with a chronic or life-threatening illness days are filled with doctor’s appointments and medical procedures that leave little time for them and their families to create positive memories. Northwestern Mutual’s McTigue Financial Group located in Northbrook would like to change that.

The financial security company’s staff and financial representatives are inviting the community to join with them in putting on their running shoes and raising funds by participating in Chicago’s Hot Chocolate Race on November 3rd in Chicago’s Grant Park. All the funds raised will be donated to Starlight Children’s Foundation - Midwest with the goal of activating its Great Escape program. The Starlight Great Escape program provides families with a chance to spend recreational time together as a diversion from medical worries and treatments, and to create lasting memories.

“Strengthening families and having a lasting impact is at the core of what we do as financial representatives,” said Scott R. Evans, Managing Director of Northwestern Mutual's McTigue Financial Group in Northbrook. “By partnering with Starlight it is our hope to help create some positive memories for families that are facing a challenging medical journey.”

Starlight Children’s Foundation Midwest serves qualified children who have been diagnosed with a chronic or life-threatening illness. Starlight Great Escapes are family outings for Starlight Kids ages 4-18 as well as their parents and siblings of all ages. Families in the program enjoy movies, concerts, sporting events, and other recreation away from healthcare facilities. This carefree, relaxing activity also allow children and parents the opportunity to connect with others on a similar journey.
