Obama at fault? Makes no sense.
On Oct. 5 you printed a letter from Louis Bowers that needs refuting. He maintains that President Obama bears the greatest responsibility for the current shutdown and that it is his duty to negotiate. This makes no sense whatever.
The Affordable Care Act was passed three years ago by both houses of Congress, signed into law by the president, and has since been affirmed by the Supreme Court. Some of its provisions have already been implemented for over a year.
What exactly is the president supposed to negotiate? A small minority of House Republicans is holding our economy hostage while they whine about being “disrespected.” They need to grow up, send the Senate-passed clean bill to the House floor, and get on with governing. It’s really fairly simple.
