Multiple vehicles involved in South Elgin crash

Three people were injured in a car accident Wednesday afternoon in South Elgin, according to a news release.

The crash occurred near the intersection of McDonald and Randall roads around 2:30 p.m. Two vehicles ended up in the east bound lanes of traffic with heavy front end damage, according to officials.

All three people who were injured had to be extricated from the vehicles. Two were transported to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin and another was airlifted to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

Due to the magnitude of the crash, the South Elgin Fire Department and the South Elgin police department received assistance from the Elgin Fire Department, the Fox River and Countryside Fire District and the Kane County Sheriff.
