Chimney fire damages Streamwood townhouse
Streamwood firefighters Monday were continuing to investigate the cause of a fire that damaged the area around a townhouse’s fireplace and chimney Sunday night.
Firefighters were called to the four-unit building on the 300 block of Wisteria Drive by a report of a chimney on fire at 9:34 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived fire was showing on the north side of the building, damaging its exterior. Crews extinguished the flames and were on the scene only about an hour and a half, Streamwood Fire Chief Chris Clark said.
Damage to the interior of the building was limited, and the entire damage was estimated at $15,000. There were no injuries.
Clark said he wasn’t certain whether the residents of the affected unit had already resumed living in it Monday, but he knew the other three units of the townhouse were unaffected by the fire.
