Howlingly good time for a good cause

Get your Halloween costumes ready for a howling good time to help our homeless Heroes.

The Mount Prospect Jaycees are hosting their 3rd annual Scaryoke on October 31 at the Ye Olde Town Inn – 18 West Busse Avenue - in downtown Mount Prospect.

In addition to being a fantastic social event with a costume contest, karaoke with a twist, food and plenty of fun, the Mount Prospect Jaycees hope to raise awareness and collect clothing items for United Relief Foundation’s Stand-Up efforts providing homeless veterans care, comfort and compassion.

There will be a $5 cover charge if you are in costume and $10 if not.

The event starts at 7pm and to get things kicked off attendees will be offered three “sing” slips for $5 that can be used for a solo or group karaoke, signing up someone else to sing scary or for a pass to show off.

The public is encouraged to bring a new or cleaned, gently used clothing (sweaters, hats, scarves, mittens, gloves or coats) to donate to the effort of keeping homeless veterans warm this winter.

Donations can be dropped off at the Ye Olde Town Inn, during regular business hours, prior to October 31.

United Relief Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) humanitarian aid organization based in Deerfield, Illinois. Donations are tax deductible.

The Mount Prospect Jaycees is Mount Prospect’s foremost organization for young people, age 18-40 committed to leadership development through community service.
