Senior Star at Weber Place Gold Sponsor of Walk to End Alzheimer's Joliet

Senior Star at Weber Place is proud to be a Gold Sponsor of the 2013 Walk to End Alzheimer’s® Joliet on Saturday, October 5 at Rock Run Forrest Preserve, 3395 Black Road, Joliet. The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions.

“Every Senior Star employee has the opportunity to educate and inspire those they touch in their everyday lives – residents, family members, friends and business partners alike,” said Bill Thomas, co-owner of Senior Star. “Alzheimer's disease affects people in every one of our retirement communities. Their needs are great, as is our desire to reach out and help in a more profound way than ever before.”

Senior Star at Weber Place is excited about the opportunity to sponsor this event on the local level. “Senior Star has a strong history and focus of providing innovative and compassionate care for those with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, therefore; participating in this event is part of our culture,” said Michelle Franzak, executive director of Senior Star at Weber Place. “We encourage everyone to join the Weber Place team October 5 and to further their own education of the disease by visiting our newly revamped memory care community, which recently debuted another Senior Star tradition of cutting-edge programs that are in-line with the best practices of the Alzheimer’s Association.”

In addition to Weber Place being a Gold Sponsor for this year’s Joliet event, Senior Star, through its network of retirement communities across the United States, is for the first time participating in the National Team Program for the Walk to End Alzheimer's®. The organization is passionate about taking action in the fight against Alzheimer's disease as evidenced by a company-wide initiative aimed at exceptional fundraising for the cause and creating awareness of the Alzheimer's Association and concern for Alzheimer's disease. As a 2013 Walk challenge, with donations of $150,000 collectively received through all of its retirement communities, Senior Star will provide matching support to the Alzheimer's Association. “Our dedication to the Alzheimer's cause has led us to a new and deeper commitment to taking action that will inspire others to get involved,” said Thomas.
