Check out gardens tended by Des Plaines Garden Club

The Des Plaines Garden Club maintains four gardens throughout Des Plaines each year.

Beginning in May, in each garden, debris is removed, cultivated and greenery trimmed before the annual flowers are planted.

During the rest of the summer and into fall each week Des Plaines Garden Club Community Volunteers dead head the flowers, water, trim and weed the gardens.

At your leisure please take a look at them at the following locations: Frisbie Senior Center, Northwest Hwy. and Mt. Prospect Road around the flag pole; Des Plaines Self Help Pantry, Algonquin Road and Wolf Road; “Let Freedom Ring Memorial Garden” at Lake Park-Touhy and Lee Street and “Monarch Butterfly Way Station” at a members home.

In the fall, all annual flowers are removed and greenery trimmed back for the winter. It takes a large number of members to maintain these gardens.
