Kiwanis Peanut Days are here again
The Kiwanis Club of Streamwood is once again planning its annual Peanut Days fundraiser for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27 and 28. This is the biggest fundraiser of the year and the main way in which the club is able to support all its community service work. All of the money raised during Peanut Days is used to benefit children and their families in the Hanover Township communities.
Kiwanis Club members will be stationed at street corners and storefronts throughout the tri-village area during the weekend. They will be assisted with collections by Key Club members from Streamwood and Bartlett high schools, as well as by numerous other nonprofit groups who also benefit from this fundraiser.
If you would like to make a donation to their effort, you may do so by sending a check to them at: The Kiwanis Club of Streamwood, P.O. Box 1011, Streamwood, IL 60107. If you would like to purchase a box of peanuts, contact Cathy at (630) 213-3660 to make arrangements to do so. They're a great alternative to candy for Halloween.
The Kiwanis Club of Streamwood will be celebrating its 15th anniversary on April 15, and are hoping to do even more for their service area than ever before. Their projects currently include working at the Hanover Township Food Pantry and sponsoring the mobile pantry several times a year, holding an annual holiday toy drive, providing grants to schools and high school scholarships, contributing to the Streamwood Police Department Child Safety Seat Program, assisting the Poplar Creek Library with purchases that benefit their children's area, donating toys to the St. Alexius Children's Hospital, hosting an annual Senior Citizen Prom at The Devonshire, participating in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life and much more.
Kiwanis International is a global organization of members of all ages who are dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. The Kiwanis Club of Streamwood meets at noon, on the first and third Tuesday of the month, at First Midwest Bank in Schaumburg.
