Driver dies in Route 59 crash

Authorities are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Route 59 and Hawthorne Lane near West Chicago.

West Chicago police said they were notified of the crash at 4:49 p.m. Responding officers located a sedan approximately 50 feet off the roadway in a ravine. The driver was the only occupant.

They are also withholding the name of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.

The northbound lanes of Route 59 were closed for approximately 90 minutes during the investigation.

The DuPage County sheriff’s office and the DuPage County coroner are assisting in the investigation.
