Coroner: McHenry County man died of multiple stab wounds

A 34-year-old man found dead in a Woodstock home Saturday died as a result of multiple stab wounds, the McHenry County Coroner’s office said Sunday.

The man, identified as Mark A. Medina, was found by Woodstock police dispatched to a report of an unresponsive subject at the residence in the 1900 block of Sheila Street about 4:37 p.m. Saturday.

Upon arrival, police said, officers discovered the man dead and deemed the circumstances surrounding the death suspicious.

An autopsy performed Sunday afternoon determined as a preliminary cause of death multiple stab and incised wounds to Medina’s chest and upper body, the coroner’s office said. Toxicology is pending.

The Major Investigation Assistance Team (MIAT) was activated to assist in the investigation, police said.
