Host families still needed for October German exchange

A group from the County of Schaumburg, Germany will visit our community Oct. 1-9. These visitors enjoy staying with host families who have graciously offered to share their homes with our honored guests. At this time the village is looking for two more Schaumburg hosts.

The group will tour several village facilities and businesses, St. Peter Lutheran Church and School, Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center as well as take a day trip to Chicago. The village is grateful to those who have supported, hosted, and offered complimentary meals for this exchange. Our guests include:

• Jorg Klostermann, Director of Village Planning and Building in Buckeburg

• Oliver Schafer, Village Manager and Major of Obernkirchen

• Erwin Tatge, Vice Chief of County Handworker Union, Car Dealer, and Fire Chief of Bückeburg

• Alfred Prüller, retired, former Quality Manager with Gerresheimer Glas

• Jürgen Watermann, Schaumburg German Sister Cities Representative

It is with this community support, our visitors experience the best Schaumburg has to offer. If you are interested in hosting one of the guests, contact the Director of Community Services at ktempesta@ci.schaumburg.il.us or call 847.923.4704.
