Jensen crowned Schaumburg’s Miss Septemberfest
Laura Jensen has been crowned Schaumburg’s Miss Septemberfest 2013, to preside over events and activities throughout the festival this Labor Day weekend.
The 18-year-old Schaumburg resident is a student at North Central College. She is involved with her college’s dance team and was in pom-poms and Orchesis at Conant High School.
As Miss Septemberfest, Jensen will receive a $500 scholarship from the Schaumburg/Hoffman Rotary Club, which sponsored the competition.
Jensen was chosen from among five finalists, all of whom will serve in the Miss Septemberfest Court. They are Carly Bryeans, Carolyn Gassmann, Maggie Schroeder and Sarah Meyer.
All applicants were judged on four criteria: poise, character, community involvement and knowledge of Schaumburg.
The four court members will receive $250 scholarships from the Rotary Club. In addition, all five finalists will receive a spa day from Dazzles Salon to prepare for the Labor Day parade, gift certificates from Mario Tricoci, a festival gift bag, trophy and sash.
