Trinity Lutheran Church Community Work Day on Sep 8th Warrenville

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The national church leadership has encouraged all ELCA Churches to participate in a day of service to give back to the local community. The theme of the day is “God's Work, Our Hands – Connecting Faith and Community.”

Trinity Lutheran Church of Warrenville will do a Community Project Work Day on Sunday, September 8. Members and anyone interested in helping out will be working at multiple locations around Warrenville. Trinity will be one of nearly 10,000 ELCA churches' that comprise 4 million members working to make a difference with a dedicated day of service across the United States, Bahamas and the Caribbean.

The day will begin with a short worship service at 9:30 at Trinity, and then members and guests will participate in multiple activities throughout Warrenville and at the Church. Our theme for the day is “Little Service (as in worship) – BIG Service (as in volunteer to serve)”. Work has been planned where all ages can participate. The activities around Warrenville include:

• Cleaning up an adopted section of the Illinois Prairie Path from Rockwell Street east to southwest corner of Winfield Road. The Church will also sponsor clean up days three other times in the next year.

• Painting the dugouts at the Warrenville VFW Field, with supplies provided by the Warrenville Park District.

• Volunteering at the Immanuel Presbyterian Church Food Pantry from 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm.

• Volunteering at the Discoveries Resale Shop to get Halloween and fall items ready for sale.

• Beautifying the neighborhood by doing general cleanup in the area surrounding Trinity.

Several activities will occur on site at Trinity:

• Knitting lap blankets for Heartland Hospice.

• Wrapping birthday gifts for children in need (approximately 170 gifts).

• Decorating Thank You cards. The church will have cards and supplies available.

We invite all Warrenville residents to come and join us for the day in service to give back to our community. For more information about Trinity's Community Project Day, please call the Church at (630) 393-9104 or send an e-mail to office_trinitylcw@ameritech.net for information.
