Learn more about peace essay contest

A Wheaton high school student will be presented with a $1,000 first place award on today, Aug. 27, the 85th Anniversary of the Kellogg-Briand Pact. Her essay was picked among 129 submitted by people, young and old, from across the nation.

Second and third place tie Awards will be presented to authors from California, Massachusetts and Maryland by the West suburban Faith-based Peace Coalition. All of the essays are posted at: www.faithpeace.org and www.warisacrime.org.

Like most peace initiatives little press coverage is expected. Most people go through our educational system and never even learn the inconvenient truth that the U.S. Senate overwhelmingly outlawed war. But people who have a deep dedication to peace, here and around the world, will celebrate the day nations joined together to reject war as an instrument of national policy.
