76 year old Vernon Hills man beats cancer, receives wish of a lifetime

Roger Evans, a 76 year old Vernon Hills resident is about to receive his wish of a lifetime! The Park at Vernon Hills, a Brookdale Senior Living Community, works with the "Wish of a Lifetime" program which grants wishes to senior citizens.

In the fall of 2011, Mr Evans, with a twinkle in his eye, told me he'd always had a wish to fly fish in Alaska but felt his wish could never come true. When he heard about the wish of a lifetime program, he seemed to have a new possitive outlook on life. He was facing stage 4 throat cancer and knew he had a long and difficult recovery after his scheduled surgery. Just thinking that his wish could come true would motivate him through this difficult time.

Learning Roger's story, the contributions he has made to his community and all he has overcome, gave me the inspiration to submit his wish.

Mr. Evans, I am happy to report, has made an amazing recovery and will in fact be travelling to Anchorage Alaska August 25th, with his two sons for a dream come true fishing trip.
