Crime Stoppers of Mount Prospect holds fundraiser
The Crime Stoppers organization of Mount Prospect will hold a Jail-A-Thon from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at the 2013 Mount Prospect Downtown Block Party.
Friendly “arrest warrants” will be “served” on pre-identified individuals for “crimes” such as excessive good quality service, occasionally returning phone calls, and a favorite for public officials, egregious good humor.
Crime Stoppers officials will escort those arrested to a makeshift jail on Emerson Street south of Busse, where they will be brought before the Crime Stoppers “judge” and ordered to make bail. The bail will be a $20 donation to the Crime Stoppers fund that is used to reward citizens for tips about criminal activity.
Participants will be allowed to make phone calls to arrange bail. Friends, family, co-workers and any block party attendees can help the arrestee make bail. Arrestees who can’t make bail will be detained for a mandatory 30-minute sentence. Photo opportunities will be available.
