Cubs, fans deserve a better ballpark
I sure hope Cubs fans had an opportunity to watch the MLB All-Star Game and saw New York’s Citi Field. It is an absolutely beautiful new ballpark. The Ricketts family wants to spend $350 million to put a Band-Aid on a compound fracture. Wrigley Field is a dump! I have gone through the tour of Wrigley, and it is pathetic.
I agree it has a world of tradition, but even the best of traditions have to come to an end sometime. Stop being held hostage by the city of Chicago and the incredibly funny rooftop owners.
It’s time for the Ricketts family to consider the other offers from Arlington Heights or Rosemont. The mayor of Rosemont has offered a tremendous section of land to build one of these beautiful ballparks close to public transportation. The ballplayers deserve it, and the Cubs fans deserve it.
I am 50 years young and have been to hundreds of Cubs games, and I realize how essential a new ballpark is. If you have been there, you have a memory. If you haven’t, you still have time. Ricketts family: Spend your money, and ours, on a new state-of-the-art facility. You will be happy you did!
