Vehicle, garage burn near Wauconda
A vehicle fire spread to a detached garage and caused some $150,000 in damage late Friday morning in an unincorporated area near Wauconda, authorities said.
Firefighters were dispatched to a house on the 2800 block of West Main Street at 11:57 a.m. for reports of a vehicle that was on fire, according to a news release from the Wauconda Fire District.
Upon arrival, crews saw that the fire had spread to the 20-by-40-foot garage. The vehicle was parked in front.
The fire was extinguished, and crews left the scene at 1:15 p.m.
The $150,000 damage estimate is due to the contents in the garage that were destroyed, officials said.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
