Motorcyclists hurt in Gurnee crashes
Two motorcyclists were injured in separate crashes Monday in Gurnee and were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center. One suffered minor injuries, but the other remains in the intensive care unit, fire officials said.
The first crash happened at 9:15 a.m. A motorcyclist lost control after hitting some uneven pavement on Route 45 near Washington Street and suffered minor injuries, officials said.
“It was a good thing he had his helmet on,” said Gurnee Lt. Bob Szczerba said. “It was really scuffed up.”
A second crash happened at 11 a.m. on Route 21 near the employee entrance to Six Flags Great America. A car and a motorcycle collided. The motorcyclist suffered multiple traumatic injuries and remained in the intensive care unit Tuesday evening, officials said.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, officials said.
