Mount Prospect warns of deceptive electricity sales pitches

Mount Prospect officials are warning residents about sales people from electric suppliers going door-to-door claiming that the Municipal Electrical Aggregation rate is ending soon and urging residents to change suppliers. The village has received numerous phone complaints. The municipal aggregation rate is 4.65 cents and won’t expire for at least another year. Residents are advised to review all documents carefully. Residents who feel they were a victim of high pressure or unscrupulous sales tactics may call the Illinois Attorney General’s Consumer Affairs Division at 800-386-5438.
