Seabrook’s overtime goal give Hawks a win they had to have

In the Blackhawks’ previous biggest game of the year, against Detroit in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals, it was Brent Seabrook who ended it with a goal in overtime. In a game last night that winger Bryan Bickell called the biggest game of some of their lives, it was Seabrook scoring again in overtime at 9:51 to give the Hawks a wild 6-5 win over Boston in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final. Aurora boy seriously injured by hit-and-run driver

Police are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run accident that seriously injured a 13-year-old Aurora boy last night. The boy was walking south on Talma Street and crossing over Fifth Avenue around 5 p.m. when he was hit, police said. Full story.

Schaumburg fire causes $40,000 in damages

A fire caused about $40,000 in damages at a Schaumburg home yesterday afternoon, officials said. Capt. Frank Chambers of the Schaumburg Fire Department said crews were called for an attic fire at a home on the 700 block of East Weathersfield Way about 5 p.m. Full story.

Carol Stream library board hires attorney to review contract

The Carol Stream Library board last night hired a local attorney to evaluate its contract with a nursing home company that wants to build on the library-owned vacant Kuhn Road property. But some board members objected to the hiring of Robert McNees because of his connections with the board majority. Full story.

Aurora gym owner, office manager acquitted of forgery

The owner of an Aurora gymnastics studio was found not guilty yesterday of forging her son’s coaching schedules before his 2005 trial on charges he sexually abused 14 female gymnasts. Also acquitted of felony forgery was Linda Lynch’s co-defendant and former office manager, Andrea Arndt, who was accused of altering records to distance Lynch’s son from one of his accusers. New pensions committee, same suburban players

As lawmakers yesterday formed a new committee to debate ways to cut the state’s nearly $100 billion in pension debt, they’ll try to prove this new panel will somehow differ from any of the previous ones. After all, many of the names involved are the same. Full story.

West Aurora Dist. 129 superintendent retiring next year

Jim Rydland has indicated to the West Aurora School District 129 board of education that he plans to retire at the end of the 2014 school year. Rydland has served as the district’s superintendent since July 2005. ”I look forward to my final year working collaboratively with you on our ongoing goal of improved student learning,” he said in a statement. Arlington Heights roommates get 12 years for armed robbery

A Cook County judge sentenced roommates Randy Flowers, 24, and Karl Watson, 36, each to 12 years in prison yesterday after they pleaded guilty to robbing a gas station last year. Police said the roommates, who lived on the 4000 block of Bonhill Drive, entered the Mobil gas station in Rolling Meadows at 12:20 a.m. April 29, 2012, demanded cash and threatened the clerk. Cubs’ DeJesus likely out a month

Cubs manager Dale Sveum told reporters in St. Louis before last night’s 4-1 loss to the Cardinals that center fielder David DeJesus likely will be out a month after suffering a sprained right shoulder during last Friday’s game in New York. That will put DeJesus out until after the all-star break. Bruce Miles reports.

Could Frank Thomas help the Sox as hitting coach?
