Schaumburg wins award for design guidelines

Schaumburg has won an Excellence in Development Review Award from DePaul University’s Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development for the village’s development of Woodfield Regional Center design guidelines. This overlay district includes Woodfield Mall and surround office, industrial and retail space. The Chaddick Institute’s committee was impressed that the informal, business-friendly process is streamlined so proposals consistent with the design guidelines are approved quickly. In the 10 years since the village updated and revised the design guidelines, new projects have met the village’s aesthetic standards and the application of the guidelines has been well received by local businesses.
