Garden Club of Mt. Prospect celebrates golden anniversary
The Garden Club of Mount Prospect celebrated its 50th anniversary during a May luncheon.
There were 130 members and friends that attended the buffet salad luncheon which featured all homemade salads prepared by club members. The celebration also included a birthday cake.
Members donated handmade gifts and baskets for the raffle and there were over 25 gift certificates and several flower baskets donated by local businesses. Club members also donated potted plants from their gardens, which were sold.
The club was presented a 50th anniversary award from the District 9 Garden Clubs of America.
Included in the attendees were seven past presidents of the club, who were honored during the event. Several members were awarded honorary memberships and several members were given 25-year pins.
