Mindful Kitchen Open for Business in Downtown Arlington Heights

Mindful Kitchen, formerly Mindful Meals, has reopened with a new look and expanded menu at 250 N. Evergreen Ave. in downtown Arlington Heights.

“Mindful Kitchen hearkens back to a simpler time when we didn't have to worry about pesticides and additives in our foods,” said Miller, sole owner of the shop and a long-time Arlington Heights resident. “At the same time, we're responding to the needs of 21st century moms who may not have the time to cook from scratch, but still want to feed their families healthy, great-tasting meals.”

Customers will feel at home in the shabby chic “cottage” decorated in pastel pinks and greens, floral fabrics and vintage accessories. Miller has created beautiful, one-of-a-kind art from recycled vintage glass and china for display in the garden or on the table, which is available for purchase at the shop.

In addition to customer favorites like Chicken Toscano and Zesty BBQ Ranch Chicken Wraps, the store will offer newly created entrees each month. In June, these include Black Raspberry-Balsamic Glazed Center Cut Pork Chops, Paella with Andouille Sausage and Shrimp for the Grill, Garlicky Shrimp & Couscous and Basil Pesto Polenta Lasagna. New vegetable side dishes include Tuscan Broccoli Bake, Savory Baked Squash, and Zucchini and Tomato pockets for the grill. Many entrees can be made gluten free upon request. All Mindful Kitchen recipes feature premium, organic, all-natural ingredients, sourced locally wherever possible.

Customers can purchase meals in one of three ways:

• Order online at www.amindfulkitchen.com and then assemble your dinners in-store on your chosen date. All the work of prepping the ingredients is done for you, and assembly usually takes less than 10 minutes per entrée. Not comfortable in the kitchen? We can help!

• Use the “Personal Chef” option online. Mindful Kitchen prepares and customizes each meal according to your instructions (less salt, no capers, etc.) for pickup on a particular date.

• Shop in-store for already prepared meals: fresh for today, or frozen for the future.

New this summer are frozen treats—Tahitian Vanilla Gelato Cups, Organic Strawberry Push Pops and Organic Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwiches—for the kids (and you!) while you shop for dinner after a long day at the pool. Cold, organic, flavored teas and water will be available, as well. Mindful Kitchen is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday-Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Customers can call 847-398-7480 for more information.
