Counseling Center for Pregnancy Help and Education Recognizes Volunteers at Appreciation Luncheon

(Inverness, Ill.) - Society for the Preservation of human Dignity, PHD honored its volunteers on Friday, May 3rd at the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon held at Maggiano's Little Italy in Schaumburg. PHD acknowledged 10 specialized volunteer groups of 250 volunteers that donated 19,374 hours to clients, staff, and various projects at PHD.

"We, the staff of PHD, welcome you and are so thrilled to honor you on this day for your loving presence each day and commitment to the mission of PHD", said Catherine E. Vincus, PHD's Executive Director.

Among those honored were: Ellen Brown, Professional Volunteer; Jenny Ross, Case Manager; Trisha Treml, PHD Resale Boutique, Tom, Mike, Ryan, PHD Resale Boutique Outstanding Team; Deb Armstrong, President, PHD Board of Directors; Michelle Behrens, Baby Closet; Lyn Neuhengen, Special Events; Joann Panko, Intake Coordinator; Sarina Graf, Projects; Ethel Middleton, Greeter; Maria Anfenson, Motivate Prevention.

Each year a volunteer is presented with the Marion Stocker Award. This special award is given to an individual who recognizes that one person can make a difference, works tirelessly and selflessly for the mission of PHD, recognizes the inherent dignity of each human being, and consistently demonstrates a spirit of love and joy in the act of helping others.

This year the Marion Stocker Award was presented to Phyllis Costello who has dedicated 24 years to helping women who enter PHD's doors. "She has become a role model for many, sincerely sharing her thoughtful and creative ideas with clients, staff and fellow volunteers. Her strong focus on the Mission of PHD is woven into everything she does here at PHD, most importantly her interaction with our clients", said Catherine E. Vincus.

Also earning recognition were: Terri Clark, Phyllis Louis, Elaine McGee, 30 years of service; Barb Green, Helen Scott, Vira White, Jan Pemoller, 15 years of service; Carol Clark, Elma DeSalvo, Joann East, Judy Faith, Louise Heselbarth, Maureen Shutvet, Maggie Stephen, 10 years of service; Carolyn Bickel, Gerry Campbell, Shelia Kesler, Joann Kuper, Martha Medina, Lianne Paterson, Marietta Satalino, Marie Schickling, 5 years of service.
